Board Opportunities

The VFTP is seeking four (4) individuals to join the board for the 2019/2020 season! Our board is a group of Metro Vancouverites who are passionate about food security and community-building and who want to spend time advancing food security in the city through VFTP. The position is for a two-year term of office.

We are looking for individuals with an interest and/or experience in the following areas:

Finances and Accounting

Communications

Public Relations

Fundraising

Volunteer Management

Social Enterprise

That being said, if you are hard-working and keen, but do not have these qualities, please still consider the opportunity. For many of our directors, this is their first time on a board and a great place to learn.

It is also important that board members demonstrate accountability, teamwork, enthusiasm, professionalism and communication.

Date and Time Commitment

All VFTP Directors are expected to commit to the following commitments, which averages out to 4 hours per month

Meetings

Attend monthly board meetings (2nd Wednesday of each month, 6:30-8:30 PM)

Attend the Annual General Meeting (March 14, 2019 @ 6:30pm)

Outreach

Participate in two community outreach events per season

Fruit Picking

Attend Pick Leader training

Lead two fruit picks during the season

Other

Contribute to other aspects of the project between meetings

VFTP is committed to recruiting and supporting candidates for the Board that reflect the diversity of Metro Vancouver. VFTP encourages applications from people who live outside of Vancouver, individuals from racialized groups, Indigenous people, women, people with disabilities, people of diverse faiths, people of diverse social classes, people with diverse gender identities, and people with diverse sexual orientations.

At our next AGM on Thursday, March 14th, we will be holding elections for new board members.
